CALHOUN, MERLE ELAINE (MacDONALD) Merle Elaine (MacDonald) Calhoun died peacefully at the age of 88 at the Central New Brunswick Nursing Home on Saturday, October 11, 2003 surrounded by her family. She was born in Bloomfield Ridge, the daughter of the late Kennay and Evelyn (Boies) MacDonald. She was predeceased by her husband, Murray Calhoun; two sons, Kenneth and Perley Calhoun; daughter Jeanne Calhoun; grandson Joey Calhoun; sisters Evelyn Doak and Gwen Hunter; and brother Boies MacDonald. Merle is survived by three sons, Arden (Faye) of Douglas, Jim (Valerie) of Wasega Beach, ON, Jerry (Jane) of Rothesay; five daughters, Marie Hebb (Jack) of Wakefield, NH, Jacqueline Christen (Doug) of Bedford, NS, Izella Reid, Myrna Green (Mervin) and Roxanne Pond (Ivan) all of Boiestown; 39 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; one sister, Lorena Calhoun; plus several nieces and nephews. Merle was a wonderful mother to eleven children and a very active member of her church and community. She was a member of the Bloomfield Ridge United Church, a Life Member of the Bloomfield Ridge United Church Women, a Life Member of the Bloomfield Ridge Women's Institute, and a member of the Central New Brunswick Woodmen's Museum. Visitation will take place at the home of Ivan and Roxanne Pond, 3352 Route 625, Boiestown, on Sunday evening 7 to 9 PM, and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday October 14 at 2 p.m. at the Boiestown United Church, Rev. Beverly Daley officiating. Interment to follow at the Bloomfield Ridge United Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons Bill Reid, Jamie Calhoun, Jeff Green, David Green, Aaron Pond and Bruce Christen. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jeanne Calhoun Memorial Scholarship, the Bloomfield Ridge United Church Cemetery, or charity of choice.
