Mattie Pearl Johnson, 87, of Orange peacefully passed away on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010, at 11 a.m. from the Peaceful Zion Baptist Church, 213 Rhode Island Ave., East Orange. Visitation is Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Woody "Home For Services," 163 Oakwood Ave., Orange. Interment will follow in Rosehill Cemetery, Linden. Mrs. Johnson was a longtime resident of Orange and a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church. She retired from New Jersey DYFS after many years of service. Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband, Curtis; devoted children, Frances Johnson, Gloria Scott, John Scott, and was predeceased by her son, Clifford Scott, and daughter, Diana Wigfall. She also leaves her beloved sister, Dora Johnson; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; loving daughters-in-law, Anita Scott and Yvonne Scott; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
