Mary-Virginia-Adams-Shively Miller, born in 1923, daughter of Ed and Iva, died on August 3, 2011 at 87 years old. Please consult the obituary here:
Mary Miller, 87, of Niceville, Fla., passed away at Superior Residence of Niceville, surrounded by her family on Aug. 3, 2011.Mary Miller was born in Shreveport, La., on Nov. 17, 1923, and was a lifelong resident until February 1996 when she moved to Niceville to be near her daughter. Mary was a member of Trinity Heights Baptist Church in Shreveport and attended the First United Methodist Church of Niceville.Mary loved to play golf and golfed for many years. Her other loves were her garden clubs and book clubs, and she enjoyed cooking for large groups of people. Mary had served as president of her garden club many years ago in Shreveport. She also served as president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Mithra Grotto of Shreveport. Mary loved to travel. She traveled to see all the U.S. states, traveled extensively in Canada and Europe, and cruised the Caribbean.She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Iva Adams; her husbands, Judson A. Shively and Cleve D. Miller; and great-granddaughter, Ashley Dickson. Survivors include her two children, Ruth Justine Shively Kearney and husband, Patrick, of Niceville, and her son, Judson A. Shively and wife, Phyllis, of Thompson Falls, Mont. Mary had six grandchildren, Kelly L. Dickson, Ed Dickson, Jessica, Chris, Jeff and Greg Shively. She also had five great-grandchildren, Tyler, Katelyn, Timothy and Jake Dickson, and Addis Shively. Mary's cousins are Mary and Pete Cush of Dixie, La., and Gene Little of Strafford, Texas.The family wishes to send their sincere thanks to Dr. Gary Banks and his staff for their help and great care they gave our mother. We also wish to thank Superior Residence of Niceville for the care and comfort given to her. We also wish to thank Emerald Coast Hospice for the loving care and comfort given her in her final days.
