Mrs. Mary Virginia Witherspoon Hood, 84, resident of Rogersville, Ala., died Monday, May 22, 2006, at ECM Hospital in Florence, Ala.Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home in Columbia, Tenn., with Brother David Lash officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will visit with friends today from noon until time of service at the funeral home. Witherspoon Sr. and Francis Nicholson Witherspoon.She was married to Thomas Hood, who preceded her in death March 1974. She was a 1940 graduate of Columbia Central High School, a homemaker and attended the Methodist church.Survivors include a son, James K. "Jimmy" (Betty) Biffle III, of Rogersville, Ala.; a brother, Stockard W. "Pete" (Bernice) Witherspoon Jr., of Athens, Ala.; seven grandchildren, Kenny (Gerie) Biffle, of Athens, Ala., Jonathan (Rochelle) Biffle, of Decatur, Ala., Jeff (Laura) Biffle, of Killen, Ala., Tonya (Tim) Bell and Tommy Cartee, both of Rogersville, Ala., Teresa Cartee, of Muscle Shoals, Ala., Tina (Scott) Sisk, of Lynchburg; and nine great-grandchildren.Pallbearers will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law.
