Mary R. Murphy. 87, died Oct. 14, 2008, at Martin Memorial Hospital South in Stuart. She was born in Amsterdam, N.Y., and lived in Hobe Sound for 30 years, coming from Schuylerville, N.Y. She was a homemaker. She belonged to Schuylerville Catholic Daughters, Women's Bowling League in Schuylerville and the Monday Night Card Club. She graduated from St. Mary's Institute in Amsterdam, N.Y. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Francis G. Murphy of Hobe Sound; sons, Francis Murphy of Cocoa and Patrick Murphy of Tallahassee; daughters, Joan Root of Schuylerville, Mary Jane Stillman of Hobe Sound and Casey Rosen of Gansevoort, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth of Amsterdam; and a grandson.
