MERIDEN - Mary R. (Dupuis) Gagne, 95, passed away at home on Friday, July 26, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the loving wife of the late Ernest F. Gagne.She was born in Meriden on Dec. 8, 1917. Mary was the daughter of the late Adalard and Sarah (Cossette) Dupuis.Besides her husband, Mary was predeceased by a son, Robert (Bob) Gagne, and her six siblings, Doris Freeman of Chula Vista, Calif., Eleanor Pulcinella of Meriden, Adeline Freeman of Meriden, Alice Folce of Middlefield, Evelyn Dlugosz of Meriden, and Norma Hatheway of Southington.Mary is survived by four of her children and their spouses, Richard and Beatrice Gagne of Meriden, Shirley and Peter Golas of Meriden, Leonard and Christine Gagne of Plantsville, and Nancy and Danny Bushey of Meriden; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.Mary was a lifelong Meriden resident. She retired from New Departure division of General Motors in 1975, after 30 years of service. She was an avid bowler during her retirement, and also enjoyed cooking, knitting, crocheting, solving word puzzles and spending time with her family.Mary was a parishioner of St. Rose of Lima church, and was a past member of the Daughters of Isabella.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at 10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, 35 Center St., Meriden. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. There are no calling hours.Mary's family would like to thank all of the wonderful people at MidState Medical Center, especially Dr. Rajani Nadkarni, for the care she received during her illness.
