NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Funeral Services for Mrs. Mary Sue Newberry, 82, of North Augusta, who entered into rest October 14, 2013, will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock from the Posey Funeral Chapel. Rev. John Beck officiating. Entombment will be Friday afternoon in the Oakwood Catholic Cemetery, Traverse City, Michigan. Mrs. Newberry was a native of Mt. Solon, Virginia, a former resident of Traverse City, Michigan, having made North Augusta her home for the past 6 years. She was married for 50 years to the late John Thomas Newberry, Jr. John was a career Naval Officer and she and John cherished their naval assignments which allowed them to live in exciting and varied parts of the world while making many life-time friends. Mary and John retired to Traverse City, Michigan where they enjoyed salmon fishing, boating, traveling and visiting family and friends. As her health declined, Mary agreed to move to North Augusta to be near her beloved niece, Ginny and her husband, Buck Ellis. She enjoyed six wonderful years of happiness while living in North Augusta. Survivors include one sister, Beatrice Heilig, Chesapeake, Virginia; one brother, Robert Kiracofe, Stuart's Draft, Virginia; several nieces and nephews including Virginia E. and Baynard "Ginny and Buck" Ellis, North Augusta.
