Mary Miller, spouse of Jack Miller, daughter of R. J and May, died on September 16, 2013. Please consult the obituary here:
MILLER, Mary Irene (nee Sainsbury) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Mary Miller, on Monday, September 16, 2013. Mary is survived by her loving children Jeff (Darcy) and daughter Jennifer (Steve) and many family members including her nephew Bryan (Kim), her niece Michelle and her brother-in- law Errol (Linda). She was predeceased by her parents R.J. and May Sainsbury and her husband Jack. Mary was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1937. She graduated as a Registered Nurse at the Winnipeg Children's Hospital in 1960 and worked in pediatrics until she moved to Edmonton to continue her nursing career and start her family. After her children entered University, Mary returned to her passion for nursing at Grandview Continuing Care, where she worked with Alzheimer's patients until her retirement. Our mother was an incredibly caring and dedicated nurse, which was a natural extension of her kind and loving nature. That she remarked: "I miss nursing", even while admitted to the Mazankowski Heart Institute last summer, tells you almost everything you need to know about Mary. Mary deeply enjoyed her longtime neighbours, her many nursing friends, her expansive garden, Saturday morning at the Strathcona Farmers Market and her winter vacations to Scottsdale. Mary was a devoted sister-in-law to Carol Holloway, who predeceased her. Mary and Carol shared their lives, and the lives of their families, in wonderful ways that will remain some of our fondest memories. Mary will be remembered for her strength, compassion and her love for family and friends. We simply could not have asked for a better mother and friend. A Celebration of Mary's Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 29, 2013 in the Wedgwood Room at the Hotel Macdonald, 10065 - 100 Street, Edmonton. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.hainstockedmonton.com.
