Mary L. Clay, 95, died April 17, 2009, at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover, N.H. She was born in Salmon Falls, N.H., and was a winter resident of Stuart, coming from Dover. Before retirement, she was a clerical worker in her father's foundry in Salmon Falls. She served on the Baha'i Spiritual assembly of Dover. She was a member of the Berwick Academy Alumni Association and a volunteer for the American Red Cross Blood Mobile in Dover. She was a graduate of Berwick Academy and attended McIntosh College. Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer Clay; son, Michael E. Clay Sr.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm W. Clay; son, M. Leonard Clay; sisters, Audrey Wood and Hazel Rinaldi; and brother, Harold Bowman. Memorial contributions may be made to the Merry Meeting Lake Association's Water Quality Fund, c/o MMLA Secretary/Treasurer, P.O. Box 468, New Durham, NH 03855. SERVICES: Graveside prayers were for the family April 18 at Pine Hill Cemetery in Dover. A celebration of life will take place this summer at Merry Meeting Lake. Arrangements were by Wiggin-Purdy Funeral Home, Dover.
