Mary Jane Settles Adams, 86, of Bardstown, passed away Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. She was born in Nelson County on July 2, 1927, to the late Raymond Wilson Settles Sr. and Agnes McNabb Settles. She was a retired employee of Barton Distillery, after working in the office for 44 years, and a member of St. Joseph Church.She is also preceded in death by her husband, Randolph Harrison Adams, six brothers, Roy Leon Settles, John Norman Settles, Raymond W. Settles Jr., James Winston Settles, Gerald W. Settles and David A. Settles; and three sisters, Virginia Roberts, Kathryn Hardesty and Joyce Riggs.She is survived by two sisters, Geneva (Bert) Thompson of Cox's Creek and Sharon (Joe) Wathen, of Bardstown; numerous nieces and nephews; three sisters-in-law, Evelyn Settles and Anne Settles, both of Bardstown, and Anna R. Settles, of Mt. Washington; and a brother-in-law Charles Roberts of Bardstown.A Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, Dec. 2, at 11 a.m. at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with burial in Big Spring Cemetery. The Rev. Chris Rhodes will be celebrant. Visitation is Sunday, Dec. 1, from 2 to 6 p.m. and after 8:30 a.m. Monday at Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home.The family request that expressions of sympathy be made in her memory for masses at St. Joseph Church.Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
