September 22, 2012 Mary Etta Malone, 85, passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2012, in the James Square Health and Rehabilitation Centre, where she had been a resident since December of 2008. Born in the town of Verona on December 17, 1926, she was the daughter of John L. and Mary Byrne Sullivan. A resident of Central New York since 2005, coming from Montana and California, she was a graduate of Oneida High School, Class of 1945. She married Joseph Malone in St. Francis Church, Durhamville, on May 19, 1951. Mr. Malone died on March 5, 2000. Mrs. Malone was known to be a great cook and enjoyed needle work, knitting and time spent in her flower garden. She was of the Catholic faith, always attending Mass wherever she and her husband resided. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Rochelle Malone of Connecticut and Michael and Lynn Malone of Liverpool; four grandchildren, Michele Malone, Caitlin and her husband Sean Leary, Joseph Malone and John Malone; two sisters, Catherine Burke of Manlius and Margaret Mix of North Syracuse; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by five brothers, Michael, Robert, Charles, James and Francis Sullivan. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday from Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main Street, Oneida, and 10:30 a.m. from St. Joseph's Church, where the funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Reverend Richard Kapral, pastor. Interment will be made in Harlowtown Catholic Cemetery, Montana.
