DAVIS, MARY ELIZABETH MCDONALD, 83, of Warner Robins, GA, passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2006 in Lake Mary, FL, following a massive stroke and lengthy illness. A visitation will be held in the Chapel of McCullough Funeral Home on Saturday, March 4 from 7-9PM. Memorial Service will be held at the Chapel of McCullough Funeral home on Sunday, March 5 at 2PM. Mrs. Davis will be laid to rest between her husband and mother at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Cochran, GA. Mrs. Davis was born in Lumber City, GA October 30, 1922, the daughter of John Brown Gordon McDonald and Annie Mae Newby McDonald. Her father died when she was seven years old and she grew up in Hawkinsville, GA with her beloved mother, sister, Eula Mae McDonald Noles, Bonaire, GA, and four brothers, J.B. McDonald, Cochran, GA; Woodrow McDonald, Warner Robins, GA; Russell McDonald, St. Louis, MO; and Clifton McDonald, Hawkinsville, GA. Her mother and siblings are now deceased. Mary served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. She married Roger H. Davis in 1947 and they raised their four children in Warner Robins, GA. They were highly active in their community and Mrs. Davis served as First Lady when the Honorable Roger H. Davis served as a City Councilman and Mayor from 1952- 1968. She was an active member of 2nd Baptist Church in Warner Robins. She served as President of the Charles Thomas PTA. She was a substitute teacher in the Houston County schools for 12 years and worked in Real Estate with Town and Country Realty. The past ten years had been one of the highlights of her life as she portrayed comedian "Phyllis Diller" as a member of the "Warner Robins Rockettes". She performed two shows per week in colleges, at conventions, on "Good Morning America", and in nursing homes throughout Georgia and in Florida. When Mrs. Davis suffered a stroke in January 2005, Phyllis Diller sent her an 8" X 10" caricature saying, "Dear Mary, Please get well as soon as you're able, they need the sheets for the dining room Table. Love, Phyllis". Her beloved husband of 34 years preceded her in death on March 25, 1981. Mrs. Davis is survived by one daughter, Burma Ann Davis Posey of Lake Mary, FL who was Miss Warner Robins 1967 and Miss Georgia 1968 (husband Jim); three sons, Roger Harold Davis, Jr. of Warner Robins; Thomas Gordon Davis of Pawley's Island, SC (wife Susie); and Samuel Richard Davis of New Bedford, MA (wife Donna). She also had eight grandchildren, Shanna Lee and Summer Lynn Posey; Clarissa and Cherry Davis; Heath, Blair, Zachary, and Rachel Davis; as well as a great grandson, Adam James Posey. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Jean Burt, Warner Robins, GA; Marsha McDonald Hartley, Ormond Beach, FL; James Clifton McDonald, Jr., Macon, GA; Kathy McDonald Smith, Silver City, NM; Thomas and Bradley McDonald, Macon, GA; and Russell, Jr., Larry, and Marjorie McDonald, St. Louis, MO.
