Chapel funeral services honoring the life of Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Tidwell Adams, 88, Reece City, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009. The Rev. Jerry Holland will officiate with burial to follow at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery, Reece City. Services are under the direction of Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services.Mrs. Adams was a lifelong resident of Reece City and a member of New Harmony Baptist Church for 75 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, the Rev. John and Paralee Tidwell; brothers, R.E. Keener, Wilmer Keener and Homer Tidwell; her father-in-law, James Hobson Adams; and mother-in-law, Eula Mae Adams.Mrs. Adams is leaving behind to cherish her memory, her husband of 63 wonderful years, Fred L. Adams; son, Gary (Faith) Adams; grandson, Justin (Angel) Hayes; great-granddaughter, Ambria Hayes; sisters, Odell Whitt and Margaret Kimbrill; chosen son and daughter, Dallas and Linda Petty; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.Pallbearers will be Ray Barksdale, Alan Kimbrill, Scott Barksdale, Travis Kilgo, Roger "RC" Smith, Steve Ledlow, Tim Beasley and Wilson "Candy" Hill.The family wishes to express special gratitude to Thomas Harper, M.D., Reece City Fire and Rescue, and Riverview Regional Medical Center.The family will accept friends on Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Collier-Butler Funeral Home.
