WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. - Mary Cumbee Davis, age 77, wife of Farris H. Davis, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 18, 2005. She was the daughter of the late Claud and Naomi Cumbee. She was born in Aiken County and graduated from Monetta High School. She was a retired nurse and a homemaker. Mrs. Davis was a member of Springdale Baptist Church where she served 40 years working with children in the nursery. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Farris H. Davis of West Columbia; two sons, Andrew Davis of Evans, GA and William Davis of West Columbia; a brother, Robert Cumbee; two grandchildren, Alexia Davis and Rachel Roddy; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 10am Saturday in Springdale Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Charles Yoho of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and Mr. Steve Cloer, Youth Minister of Springdale Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Ridge Spring, SC. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Friday at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington.
