COX , Mary Margaret Elizabeth (nee MacMillan) October 22, 1924 - December 23, 2009 Mary Cox, beloved wife of the late Cyril Cox passed away peacefully on December 23, 2009 at Agassiz, British Columbia. Born in Dauphin, Manitoba, Mary, as a young girl, moved west with her parents to settle in Calgary where she later met and married Cyril. A young couple, they moved to Campbell River, BC but later moved back to Calgary where they spent their lives. Above all Mary loved her family and friends making them her priority in life. A caring person, she reached out in friendship to newcomers to Calgary and Canada helping where she could to make them feel welcome. She was a member of Renfrew United Church and active in the UCW helping with fund raisers and hospital visitation. Mary also volunteered at the Fanning Centre for many years helping with Bingo and visiting shut-ins. A member of the WACs during the Second World War she maintained her friendships with the Ex Service Girls at the Legion. She is survived by sons, Wayne, Ken and Lorne, and daughter Judy; sisters Marjory, Jean, and Lorna; and brother Guy. A Memorial Service will be held January 16 at Sardis Community Church in Chilliwack at 2:00 p.m., and a second special Memorial for her many Calgary friends will follow in May/June at Renfrew United Church.
