Hayes, Mary ClaireApril 15, 1911 - April 4, 2009Mary Claire Hayes, 97, of Edgecomb, Maine, died April 4, 2009.Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Wiegand Brothers Funeral Home,7454 Tamiami Trail Sarasota, FL 34321. A funeral Mass will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Saint Thomas Moore Catholic Church, with interment at Holy Name Cemetery in Jersey City, N.J. Survivors include children Mary (John) Peters of Maine, Eileen (Ronald) Hendrick of Florida, Jean Sheppard of New York and Raymond (Mary) Hayes of Ohio.Mary was the youngest of six children of Stephen and Anne Mallard. She married Raymond Hayes of Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1932, and raised five children in Queens, N.Y., with subsequent residences in Staten Island, N.Y., Osprey, Fla., and Edgecomb. Mary was always proud to tell her many friends about her 21 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, Raymond Hayes (1905-1966), daughter Patricia Craven (1935-1992), great-grandson Jordan Hayes (2006), and her five siblings.
