BURNS, Mary Elizabeth (nee McArthur) Born on December 11, 1924. Died peacefully on October 15, surrounded by her family. Loving wife of the late Thomas Burns. Loving and generous mother of Daniel (Linda), Catherine (Gordon), Jane and Matthew. Delighted grandmother of Caitlin, Ian, Mary, Aileen and Lucy. Godmother to Mary Stone. Older sister of Peter, Helen, Ruth, Jane and Catherine. Mary will be remembered for her ability to see art in every day life, her love of music and most of all for her indestructible character: she was gracious, charming, outrageous and defiant. She died as she had lived: on her own terms. She will be dearly missed by her family, her best friend Christine Stone and the community of friends she made at the Colonel By Retirement Home. The family is especially grateful to the West End Villa for helping to make our mother's last days peaceful. Private funeral arrangements have been made.
