->WATERVILLE -- Mary Anne LaCroix, 90, went to join her beloved husband, with her loving family by her side on Nov. 3, 2009, at Oak Grove Nursing Home, where she had resided for two years.Mary was born on July 27, 1919, the daughter of Florence (Wiggins) and Archie Farris of China, where she resided as a child and attended grammar school in a one-room school house.Through her teenage years, she was a nanny to the children of the Eustis, Bartlett and Towne families.In 1935, she met the love of her life, Lucien LaCroix. After dating for five years, they were married on July 1, 1940, at Sacred Heart Church in Waterville, by the Rev. James Long. Together they raised four children.In the early years, she worked the office phones in their family business, LaCroix Garage. Lucien joined the fire department in 1941, and Mary called the men to report the fire alarm. At the same time, she was a loving mother and homemaker for her family. Mary was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who loved nothing more than spending time with her family. They were her whole world.Mary and Lucien spent 72 years together, raising their four children.She is survived by her four children and their spouses, sons Roland and his wife, Judy, of Waterville, and Lucien II and his wife, Barbara, of Waterville, and daughters Gloria Breton and her husband, Dave, of Waterville, and Dottie Carr and her husband, Brad, of Oakland; grandchildren, Roland Lacroix II and wife Shelly of Waterville, Laura Magosci Wilson of Wells, Celeste Mallett and husband Dan of Winslow, Tammy Pinnette and husband Scott of Waterville, Nicole Breton and significant other Fred Curran of Benton, Maria Bajpai of Waterville, Steven LaCroix and wife Tammy of Oakland, Laurie Landry and husband Tim of Fairfield, Brian LaCroix of Clinton, Troy LaCroix and wife Angie of Waterville, Scott LaCroix (currently stationed in Afghanistan) and wife Kristi of Vassalboro; great-grandchildren, Sara Lane, Jennifier, Jessica, Christopher and Jordyn Mallett, Robbie, Joey, Jessica LaCroix, Samantha and Brandon LaCroix, Sierra LaCroix, Josh and Adam Bajpai, Nicole, Anthony, Nathan and Lauren Pinnette, Sean Lacroix, Justin and Katie Brunell; great-great-grandchildren, Scott Allan, Nevaeh Bajpai, Isabella Mallett; special niece, Rita Tuttle and her husband, Vaughan, and many remaining nieces and nephews. The family would like to express a very special thank-you to the entire staff at Oak Grove Nursing Home; there are too many to name them all. They truly made a home for Mary for the two years she spent with them. Also, to her very special Dr. Richard Dubocq for his caring ways.At Mary's request, there will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian burial to celebrate her life will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at the Parish of the Holy Spirit Notre Dame Catholic Church on Silver Street, with a burial to follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Waterville.Arrangements are under the care of Funeral Alternatives Group, 198 Western Ave., Augusta.God LookedGod looked around his garden and found an empty place. He then looked down upon the Earth and saw your tired face. He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest. God's garden must be beautiful; he always takes the best. He saw the road getting rough, and the hills were hard to climb. So he closed your weary eyelids and whispered, "Peace be thine." It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn't go alone.
