Mary-Ann Mans, born in 1929, spouse of Norman Parkes, daughter of Joseph and Frances, died on January 9, 2014.

Mary was born on February 17, 1929, the sole child of her loving parents, Joseph & Frances. Mary was a graduate of Nazareth College & received a Masters' Degree from the University of Rochester in 1953. She taught history at West High School from 1953 to 1980 & retired from East High School in 1990. Her teaching career spanned 38 years in the Rochester City School District in which she touched the lives of many students & fellow educators. Mary loved to travel and her visits included England, Holland, France, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Spain, and Belgium along with other places with her beloved companion Norman Parkes until his passing in 2009. A devout Roman Catholic, Mary attended St. Boniface Church and contributed to various Catholic missionary organizations throughout her life and sponsored many masses for departed friends and relatives. Mary is survived by her many cousins-Fr. Leo Mans, Joan M. Murphy (Mans), Richard Effinger, Bernadette F. Riva (Tschieder), Mary K. Longo (Tschieder), Carol A. (Donald) Bly (Tschieder), Thomas M. Tschieder, Paul J. Tschieder, Dr. John F. Tschieder and will be missed by her family & good friends, especially Carl O'Connell whose daily support allowed her to maintain her independent lifestyle in her own home throughout her long life. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, Tuesday, 9:30 AM, at St. Boniface Church, interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery beside her mother & father. In lieu of flowers, Masses may be said for the repose of her soul & remembrance of her parents.
