Paraprofessional WAYNESBORO, Ga. - Mrs. Mary A. Carpenter, 92, died Thursday September 1, 2005 at Burke Medical Center. She was born in Jenkins County on August 2, 1913 to the late David and Daisy Landing Allen. Mrs. Carpenter had worked as a paraprofessional and substitute teacher. She attended the First United Methodist Church in Waynesboro. She was a Sunday school teacher, a member of the Eastern Star and a member of many different church organizations over the years and was extremely devoted to her church. Mrs. Carpenter was preceded in death her husband, Joel M. "Billy" Carpenter, and her son, M. Ray Carpenter. She is survived by two sons, Louis Carpenter, Waynesboro, and Larry J. Carpenter, Epworth. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 5, 2005 at the DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marshall Singletary, Rev.Al Ellison and Rev. Gene Sheffield officiating, with burial following at Magnolia Cemetery, Waynesboro. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on the day of the service. Pallbearers will be Donald Smith, David Smith, Marc Carpenter, Sean Carpenter, Jason Carpenter and Joel Carpenter.
