Marie Sims Williams, 91, a native of Fayette, Ala., and a longtime resident of Florence, passed away Friday, Aug. 26, 2011, at Morningside Assisted Living in Sheffield, Ala. Marie was a member of Highland Baptist Church, Alpha Delta Kappa and a graduate of Florence State Teachers College, now the University of North Alabama. She was a retired elementary school teacher of Florence City Schools.Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, 2011, at Greenview Funeral Home, with a graveside service beginning at 4 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Park. Officiating will be the Rev. Chris Underwood.Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Mervin (Mutt) Williams; parents, James Eli and Ollie Frances South Sims; sisters, Nell White and Edral Burgess.She is survived by her son, Hal Williams (Marilyn), of Florence; daughter, Lynne Crabtree (John), of Muscle Shoals; sister, Frances McKenzie (Bob), of Northport, Ala; grandchildren, Rett Williams (Jessica), Tyler and Drew Williams, Kelli and Ellis Crabtree.
