LEE (Trottier), Marie Alice February 1, 1914 - May 23, 2007 Recently of Westlock and formerly of Fort Saskatchewan, AB. It is with a deep sense of sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Aunty Alice. She died peacefully in her sleep, with grace and dignity, which exemplified her life. Survived by her special niece, Rita Mills and family, as well as many nieces, nephews and her many, many friends. She was very proud to have four great, great, great little people in her life. She always stressed the "3 greats." Predeceased by her first husband, George Collins in 1965 and by her second husband, Gerald Lee in 1994. Also predeceased by two brothers, Henry and Philip and two sisters, Laura and Agnes. Alice was born in Edmonton and raised in the Calder area. She finished high school and attended McTavish Business College. She had various careers through the years -- operated a corner grocery store on 107 Avenue/111 Street in Edmonton; worked for a number of years in Eaton's china department; and had a long lasting career for the Alberta Government Industrial Relations Department in payroll. Alice was a past president of the Kingsway Br. Ladies Auxiliary; belonged to Jewell Rebecka Lodge; and served on many committees. After marrying Gerry Lee in 1972 and moving to Fort Saskatchewan, she was active in that community and was cited for recognition in 1999 by the Women's Institute for her dedication to the Fort Saskatchewan Cemetery. Gerry was very active in his community - worked at Sherritt Gordon; was on various boards; and was an alderman for the city. In this capacity, he and Alice were able to travel to many places representing Fort Saskatchewan. A highlight was meeting the Queen and Prince Philip when they visited the Fort in 1978. "The Queen shook my hand and the Prince spoke to Gerry". Aunty Alice was a very gracious and polite lady and would have been quite capable of handling tea and conversation with the Royalty she met. After Gerry's death she moved to the Dr. Turner Lodge where Gerry had been on the Board and was their "Mr. Fix It". Aunty Alice was a woman who never, ever complained about anything. Our food was always delicious; our beds were always comfortable and she had an unconditional love for us all. Aunty Alice had a great love for cards -- Bridge was special and Canasta was a favorite -- always a little money on the line and pay up promptly. Cool winner, gracious loser. She was also known to bet the ponies. Whenever we visited or phoned - it was always, "Hi, how are ya? Do need any dishcloths and how are your scrubbies?" Toques and mitts were knit in great numbers for the inner city children. Aunty became ill and entered Fort Saskatchewan Hospital on December 1, 2006. She was cared for there until February 25, 2007 when she moved to Rivercrest Long Term. On March 30, 2007 she moved to Westlock Long Term Care Centre to be closer to family. Our care centre is newly built and she loved her new room and was able to have many of her favorite things there with her. Many thanks go out to the personnel at Dr. Turner Lodge, Rivercrest L.T. Care and the Westlock L.T. Care for making her last months so special. She was a great Lady and deserved the best. All these folks provided exactly that. Thank you to Dr. R. Stecyk of Fort Saskatchewan and Dr. Pamela Coulson of Westlock for the exceptional care and understanding. We mourn her loss but we are completely assured that in her final Home, as in her life, everything was "Just Dandy". Following her wishes, there will be no funeral service. Cremation has taken place. Private family inurnment at a later date. Memorial donations, in her memory, may be made to the charity of your choice. First Memorial Funeral Services - Riverview Chapel 998-9898
