M. Muriel (Campbell) Davis, a 52 year resident of Medford and formerly of Charlestown, passed into eternal life on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012 at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston following an extended illness. She was 72 years old. Muriel was born in Boston on May 18, 1939 to the late Daniel E. and Maude (Davidson) Campbell. She grew up in Charlestown where she attended the Boston Public School system and graduated from Charlestown High School. Muriel worked for 16 years with the special needs children in the Medford School system dedicating her time and compassion to the program. In 2005 Muriel was recognized for her dedicated service to the special needs program and was presented the Key to the City of Medford. She was a Cub Scout Leader and Girl Scout Leader in Medford and volunteered her time at East Elite Cheer Gym in Tewksbury. She was a member of Aleppo Temple Shriners H.O.N.S. of Wilmington and The Old Charlestown Schoolgirls Association. Muriel is the beloved wife of the late John C. Davis. She is the devoted mother of John C. Davis Jr. and his wife Becky of Lawton, Oklahoma, Lauren Powers and her husband Thomas of Bedford, New Hampshire, SFC Kirk Davis U.S. Army of Ft. Drum, New York, Brian Davis and his wife Coryann of Stoneham and Mark Davis and his wife Heather of Medford. She is the loving Nansters to Elaine, Christina, Melissa, Kayla, Cori, Jordan, Alyssa, Nicole, Makayla, Leah, Lexi and her great-grandchildren; Christopher, Hali and Gavin. She is the beloved sister of Daniel Campbell of Charlestown and the late Richard, Ralph, Lawrence and Steven Campbell. She is also survived by her beloved dog Nikki. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Muriel's Funeral on Friday, April 13, 2012 at 8:45 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main Street, Melrose, followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Joseph's Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 10 a.m. Interment at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. Visiting hours on Thursday, April 12, 2012, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, kindly make a memorial donation in Muriel's name to Medford High School Guidance Department, 489 Winthrop Street, Medford, MA 02155.
