Mrs. M. Kathleen Walker, 83, of Tuscumbia, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010.Her funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at Morrison Funeral Home, of Tuscumbia, with Bob Plunkett officiating. Visitation will start at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, of Tuscumbia.Mrs. Walker was a native of Colbert County and a teacher for many years at Cherokee High School. She valued her membership in Delta Kappa Gamma.She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Walker; her parents, Henry L. and Flora Kimbrough Weatherby; her daughter, Belinda Blankenship Brown; and Belinda's father, Homer Blankenship.Survivors include her cousins, Jeanie Stansell and Horace Kimbrough, as well as many other relatives.Many thanks to Southern Care Hospice, especially Judy, Dr. Ronald McCoy, Larry Whitten and her caregivers, Dean Kimbrough, Kristen Johns, Brenda Griggs, Gail Reaves, Glenda King, Willodean Davis, Amy Lovelady and Mary Horten.A very special thanks to Darlene Pauley for all the love shown during her illness.Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.Church of Christ ministries were dear to her heart and a donation to any of these would be a fitting memorial to Mrs. Walker.
