Obituary of Louise-W. Hale


Louise Wyatt Hale, age 93, of Sheffield, Ala., died Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, at her home after an extended illness. Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. today at Morrison Funeral Home, of Tuscumbia. Her funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Bill Bedsole officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, of Sheffield.Mrs. Hale was a member of First United Methodist Church, of Sheffield. She started her teaching career in Cherokee in 1935 and taught for many years in the Muscle Shoals City school system as a first-grade teacher. She was very devoted to her students and loved teaching. She was a member of the Alabama Education Retirees Association.She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, M. Gresham Hale; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred J. Wyatt; and brother, Fred J. Wyatt Jr.Survivors include her daughters, Jean Hale Goodson, Nancy Kelley and Pat Stephenson (Joe); sister, Ella Jackson; grandchildren, Chris Stephenson and Laura Kelley; and great-granddaughter, Katherine Stephenson.The family would like to extend special thanks to Machele Williams and the staff of Keller Hospice, to Susie Russell with Eldercare, Dr. Brad McAnally and to our neighbors and friends for all the kindness shown to Mother during her illness.The family requests that memorials be made to a charity of your choice.Morrison Funeral Home, of Tuscumbia, is directing.
