Loretta-Anne Tierney, born in 1920, spouse of Paul-Richards Tierney, daughter of Harry and Catherine, mother of Patricia, Mary, Joan and Regina, died on September 14, 2009. Please consult the obituary here:
TIERNEY Loretta Anne Tierney, loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, born February 23, 1920, in Colchester to Harry and Catherine McElroy, died peacefully September 14, 2009 at Milford Hospital Hospice after being cared for at home by her loving daughter, Regina, for the past four years. Preceding her in death were her husband of 32 years, Paul Richards Tierney; her first husband, Francis William Carey, who died on D-Day; as well as her sisters, Bernadette, Catherine, Mary, Rose; and her brother, Henry. She is survived by her four daughters, Regina (Victoria Wilson), Joan (David Chawes), Mary (Chen Lieh Tang), and Patricia (Salvatore Todaro); grandchildren, Adam Chawes, (Kimberly) Noah Chawes Tierney, James and Elizabeth Tang, Sean Todaro (Fiona), Sally Kav-anagh (Matthew), Matthew Todaro (Whitney); and great-grandchildren, Lindsay To-daro and Cade Kavanagh; numerous nieces and nephews; and her dear friends, Joanie and Bill McGinley. Mom loved her family, her home, her garden, old movies, and all that was Irish. An adventurous spirit, she travelled to Ireland, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and England, enjoyed visiting daughters in New York, Colorado, and Washington, but always loved to return to Milford where she lived since 1950. Per our mother's wishes, Mass will be said in her honor at St. Mary's Church, 72 Gulf Street, Milford, Saturday, September 26, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. and St. Bridget's Church in Seattle, Sunday September 27, 2009. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Milford Hospital or the charity of your choice.
