Obituary of Linda-C. Smyth


Linda C. Smyth, 53, of 646 Standing Springs Road, Greenville, S.C., passed away Monday, January 8, 2001, at St. Francis Hospital. She was born October 15, 1947, in Washington, D.C., to Christine Carroll and Rawley Hart. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, January 11, 2001, at Mackey Mortuary on Century Drive in Greenville. Linda's joy for living was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was an advocate for all fellow diabetes victims and was always first in line to volunteer for various commissions and services. She served as a commissioner on the S.C. State Counsel for the Disabled and was a volunteer for the Commission for the Blind. Linda is survived by her husband, Kenneth, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Amy Nodine of Greenville; a stepson, Kevin Smyth and stepdaughter, Lisa Smyth of Cleveland, Ohio; a brother, John Dawson (Dee) of Huntersville, N.C.; and a sister, Christine Hendrix (Mark) of Greer. She was "Aunt Linda" to Chris Preston Taubert, Michael Preston, Melissa Yearwood, Dana Smith, Steve Lyle, John Dawson and Kelsey Dawson. She was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather, Christine C. and James A. Simmons.
