Lillian Waters Williams, age 86, passed away at home on July 4, 2011, surrounded by her loving daughters. Lillian was the daughter of the late Joseph Morgan and Ethel Rowse Waters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Eugene Williams Jr.; and is survived by three daughters, Beverly A. Williams of Sylvania, Ga., Priscilla W. Hartley of Athens, Ga., and Nancy W. Jones of Hardeeville, S.C.; grandchildren, Joe and Judy Jones, Jerri Lynn and Stuart Stuart, Jim Jones, Jason and Brandi Jones; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Lillian was a member of First Baptist Church in Sylvania, the Virginia Sunday School Class and was a member of the Cathryn Smith WMU group. Lillian was salutatorian of the 1941 class of Sylvania High School. Lillian had an extraordinary talent for the piano and upon graduation from high school, she was awarded several scholarships to study music. She attended Georgia Teacher's College and was also a Latin scholar. Her passion was music and she played the piano for area churches for 40 years. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening, cooking and loved her pets, Jenny and Rocky. Visitation will be Wednesday 6-8 p.m. at Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home, Screven Chapel. A celebration of her wonderful life will be Thursday, July 7, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Sylvania. Interment will follow in Screven County Memorial Cemetery.
