FLYNN, Kathleen Mary (Nee Henley) 2009-01-10 The family of Kathleen Mary Flynn (nee Henley) announces with sorrow her death at Geraldton Hospital‘s Long Term Care Unit on December 18th, 2008 at the age of 97 years. Beloved wife of Angus Flynn (deceased) and dearest mother of Daniel Flynn (Janet) of Geraldton. She is survived by brothers Ernest Henley (Mary), Hillier Henley, and sister Mary Marion all of Geraldton, and sisters Ida Tapp of St. Catherines, Ontario and Gertrude Lemieux of Barachois, Quebec. Kathleen will be sadly missed by her two grandchildren, Kellie and Riley Flynn as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by four brothers, Louis, Raymond, Stephen and Norman Henley, as well as five sisters, Edith Flynn, Martha Dashey, Margaret Caine, Stella Lambertus, and Eunice Henley. Kathleen left her home in Gaspe at the age of 18 years and moved to Montreal for work. She worked as a maid for many years until she met and married Angus. They moved to Geraldton for a short while as he was employed at the Bankfield mine. When the war started, Angus went to Great Bear Lake to work in the uranium mine, and Kathleen returned to Montreal to work as a waitress. In 1945 they moved back to Geraldton. In 1961 Kathleen started working at the Blue Bird Grill and managed the restaurant until 1974. She later worked for the Association for Community Living until her official retirement in 1984. Kathleen‘s main interests have always been her family and her church. A funeral ceremony was held at St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church (Geraldton) on December 22nd, 2008 at 11:00 am with Father Roger Pronovost officiating. The interment was held at Pinegrove Cemetary. If friends so desire, donations can be made to the Salvation Army Thrift Store (Geraldton) or to Geraldton Hospital‘s Long Term Care Unit.
