'Jack' AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. John McQueen entered into rest on November 3, 2007 at Trinity Hospital of Augusta. Jack resided at Kentwood Nursing Facility for the last 18 months enjoying the loving care of Nancy Powell, Administrator and her staff. Jack is survived by his daughters, Maureen (Gus) Merkle of Augusta and Eileen (George) Yost of Montville, NJ; his granddaughters, Kelly Riley of Raleigh, NC and Jenny Yost of Hoboken, NJ; his grandson, Greg (Melissa) Yost of Mt. Arlington, NJ; his sisters Eileen Ralph of Monroe Township, NJ, Kathleen Blum of Yardley, PA and many nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Eileen and brothers Harry and Burt McQueen. He was born in Waukegan Ill, lived most of his life in New Jersey and retired to Boynton Beach, Florida in 1987. He was a parishioner of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Lantana; FL. Jack proudly served his country in the 31st Naval Construction Battalion during World War II earning the Asiatic Pacific Medal, the Victory Medal and the American Theater Medal. A celebration of life was held at Kentwood Nursing Facility on November 7th . Jack's final resting place will be at the VA National Cemetery in Lakeworth, FL with his wife at his side. There are no adequate words to express the heartfelt thanks from Jack's family to Nancy and her staff at Kentwood for their endless professional, tender and loving care, especially the staff of the Georgia Wing. Jack enjoyed many tender and happy moments and not a day passed without a "Hi Jack" or a kiss on his cheek from Nancy. This world is truly a better place because of Nancy and her staff and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
