Obituary of John-B. Montgomery


NORTHPORT John B. Montgomery, age 78, of Northport, died May 8, 2008, at home. Services will be 2 p.m. today at Phillips Chapel Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Terrell Jones and Rev. Jerry Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.He was preceded in death by his parents, Perry B. and Rettie Montgomery. Survivors include his wife, Vista Watson Montgomery; his sons, Harry Montgomery, Larry Montgomery, and Gregory Montgomery; his sister, Annie Deal Jones; and his grandchildren, Erica Zutell, Brian Montgomery, Clay Montgomery, and Cole Montgomery.John was a lifelong resident of Tuscaloosa County. He retired from Tuscaloosa County as a Bus Driver, and also retired from the City Barber Shop.Pallbearers will be Harold Jones, Tony Watson, Mitch Freeman, Clay Montgomery, Ronnie Anders, and Mike Zutell.Honorary pallbearers are friends and neighbors of the Phillips Chapel Church Community, Tuscaloosa County Board of Education, Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office, University of Alabama Police Department, Stress Crete Inc., and the Montgomery Volunteer Fire Department.
