Jesse Smith, born in 1935, spouse of Virginia-Spoon Smith, son of Luther and Nina-Louise-Browning, died on October 30, 2003 at 68 years old.
Jesse Alvin Smith, 68, of 401 Tripp Road, died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003. He was the husband of the late Virginia Spoon Smith. Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late Luther Alvin "L.A." and Nina Louise Browning Smith, and was employed by Wangner Systems. Surviving are four stepdaughters, Mandy Smith, Jean Williams, Sandra Hammond and Donna Childs; two sisters, Sherriell Ann Fowler, of Piedmont, and Glenda Jane Hembree, of Greenville; and four brothers, Luke Smith and P.J. Smith, both of Greenville, and Harold Elzie Smith and Joseph Marty Smith, both of Piedmont. Preceding him in death are a brother, Fred Ralph Smith; and a sister, Shelby Jean Whitlock. Service: 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, at Truth Missionary Baptist Church. The body will lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial at Greenville Memorial Gardens. Visitation: 7:30 to 9 tonight, Nov. 1, 2003, at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. The family is at the home of a brother: Marty Smith, 405 Tripp Road, Piedmont.
