JAMES "HOUSTON"WILLIAMS, 79Fireman LAKELAND - Mr. James "Houston" Williams, age 79, died of heart failure Monday (July 25, 2011). Born in Opp, Alabama, on Sept. 28, 1931, Mr. Williams was a lifelong resident. He was a fireman, having gone to work with the Lakeland Fire Dept. in 1957 and retiring as a lieutenant in 1986. He was a Mason and known as a "Scout Man" on the CB radio. He loved fishing, hunting and his hunting dogs. Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of 56 years, Louise Williams, Lakeland; sons Jimmy Williams, Lakeland, Lewell Williams, Ocala; granddaughters Jamie Williams, Melanie Williams, both of Bartow; grandson Andy Williams, Lakeland. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Lanier Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Florida National Cemetery.
