James J. Kelly of Yonkers died on Monday March 5, 2001 at age 85. Born on January 7, 1916 to John and Bridget (O'Connell) Kelly in Yonkers where he was raised and graduated from Commerce High School. Mr. Kelly was the Bookkeeper for Bleakley-Tobin Fuel Co. of Yonkers for over 23 years retiring in 1984. Prior to that he worked in the payroll department for the Carpet Shop. Jim was a World War II Army Veteran, being discharged as a Sergeant, a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, a member of AARP and visitor to Atlantic City. Mr. Kelly is survived by three children, James Jr. of California, Robert (Sammy) of Lake Carmel and Maureen Talbot of California. He was predeceased by his wife Gertrude and his son Brian. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by 6 brothers and sisters; Nora Burns, Mary McManus, Catherine Higgins, William, John and Joseph Kelly. Visiting hours will be at the Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Friday only from 2-4 and 7-9PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be at Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, March 10th at 9:30AM.
