OBITUARY JAMES HERBERT (JIM) GOODWIN Of Lachine, Quebec, died peacefully at the Chateau-sur-le-Lac nursing home on January 8, 2005, at age eighty-six. Jim was predeceased by his loving wife, "Patsy" (Murphy), his son, George Edward "Ted", his sister, Laura Cardinal and brother, William "Bill". He is survived by his son, Clifford and daughter-in-law Pat (Fisher) of Kensington, Prince Edward Island, his daughter-in-law Linda (Belvedere) of Trenton, Ontario, his son Barry and daughter-in-law Dolores (Gianelli) of Toronto, Ontario, and his daughter, Dorothy "Dodie" and son-in-law, Harold "Bud" Brown of Hopewell, Nova Scotia. He is fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Tom and wife Jennifer, Charlie and wife Cindy, Sally and husband Dave, Adam, Shannon, Kristen, Jamie, Sarah and great granddaughter, MacKenzie and special friend, Gay Thayer-Patterson. Jim was an avid sportsman, unselfishly volunteering much of his life to the administration of sports in Lachine. He was President of the Dixie Park Association and served on the Lachine Sports Commission for many years. In 1990, in recognition of his devotion to sport in his community, he was inducted into the Lachine Sports Hall of Fame. Jim also was an accomplished athlete, having played football, hockey and golf. He also had a passion for rowing and its development in the community. He was a founding member of the Lachine Old Timers Hockey Club and continued to be involved with the Grand Trunk - CN Old Boys Rugby Football Association until the time of his death. On Wednesday January 12, a Visitation (1:00 p.m.) and Funeral Service (2:00 p.m.) will be held at St. Paul's Anglican Church, 377 44th Avenue, Lachine. Inquiries can be directed to Urgel Bourgie Funeral Home in Lachine (514) 735-2025. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in his memory to the Canadian Cancer Society (5151 de l'Assomption Blvd., Montreal, QC, H1T 4A9) or a charity of your choice.
