MCIVER, Helen 2008-02-27 Helen McIver, age 87, passed away peacefully at Pinewood Court on Tuesday, February 26. Born on May 6, 1920 in Port Arthur, she attended Prospect Avenue School and Port Arthur Collegiate Institute. Helen worked for many years at Matthew‘s and McNulty‘s and enjoyed the many people she met. Since her retirement, Helen‘s main focus was her family, her home and her daily walks. She enjoyed spending time in the summer at her sister‘s cottage on Manitoulin Island and with her daughter‘s family camping at Lake Nipigon. Helen is survived by her two children Sandra (Brian Hornblower) of Thunder Bay, Rod (Dean Lisk) of Halifax, her sister Joan (Ken Brooker) of Thunder Bay, stepsister Lois Marlatt of Cayuga, ON and stepbrother Lloyd Rollason of Florida. Helen‘s pride and joy were her two grandsons Matthew and Jeffrey for whom her world revolved around and gave her countless hours of joy. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and their families, as well as her former daughter in-law Alanna Sanderson. Helen was predeceased by her husband Donald in 1993, parents Henry and Miriam Todd and stepmother Edith Todd. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Helen‘s life will be held at St. Paul‘s United Church at 11:00 am on Monday, March 3rd with the Rev. Randy Boyd officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer‘s Society or Northern Cancer Research Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
