A Day of Rejoicing is set aside for Helen Doretha Harris Thomas Williams, 80, West Hubbard Avenue, DeLand, who departed this life on Wednesday, July 20, 2005, is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, July 23, at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 514 West Beresford Avenue, DeLand, with Pastor Melvin L. Young Sr., officiating. Calling hours are from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. today (Friday, July 22) at Arthur Mack Funeral Home. Visitation at the church will begin at 12 noon Saturday. Burial will follow the service at DeLand Memorial Gardens, with a repast to follow at Macedonia's fellowship hall. Helen Harris Williams was born Sept. 30, 1924, to Lula Mae High and Henry Harris in Mims. At an early age, she moved to Georgia where she married John Thomas (now deceased) and raised two daughters, Runa Nealy Charleston (now deceased) and Ann Richardson. In 1952, Helen moved to DeLand, where she joined Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church and later married Westley Williams (now deceased). Helen was an active member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church and served as president of the Deaconess Board until she resigned due to illness. She leaves behind her daughter, Ann Richardson; six grandchildren, Ronald Thomas, Vern Nealy (Gloria), James Nealy, Theldrin Bright, Rashida Richardson and Ronald Richardson II; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Ronald Richardson; three granddaughters-in-law; two sisters, Dorothy Scott and Virginia Harris; goddaughter, Margo Gordon; and a host of relatives and sorrowing friends.
