Helen D. Carpenter COLUMBIA- The graveside service for Helen D. Carpenter will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Serenity Memorial Gardens. Bostick-Tompkins Funeral Home (2930 Colonial Drive) has been entrusted with the arrangements. Helen was born in Pomaria, South Carolina in 1918. She passed away at her home on August 21, 2014 at the age of 96. She was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and continued on to receive a degree in education from Benedict College. She was married to George Davis Carpenter, who preceded her in death. Although Helen had no children of her own and outlived her blood relatives, she adopted those she called her family. She is survived by Peggy Kearse, the Davis Family, Ruth Davis, Fred Grooms, William Davis, and her beloved cat, Bootsy, who was in every way a member of her family.
