George-R. -Berry Sr, spouse of Eva-Mains Berry, son of George and Clara-Tracey, father of Deborah, Elsie, Brenda, Barbara and Robert E. Berry, died on March 6, 2007. Please consult the obituary here:
George R. Berry Sr., 90 GORHAM -- George R. Berry Sr., 90, of Fort Hill Road, died Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at his home. Born in Westbrook, he was a son of George C. and Clara Tracey Berry and attended Portland schools. Mr. Berry began his working career at Dr. Files' Farm in Gorham. He had been a truck driver for A.R. Wright Oil Co. for 26 years. In his latter years, he had worked for the Portland Sea Dogs, the Cumberland County Garage and the Civic Center. He had been a player and catcher for the Gorham All- Stars Baseball Team and a volunteer fireman for Box 61 in Portland. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed camping and backyard barbecues. Mr. Berry was predeceased by a wife, Eva Mains Berry; a grandson, David Thomas Jr.; and two sisters, Irene Crowe and Arlene Timmons. Surviving him are his wife of four years, Kimberly Ramsay Johnson Berry of Gorham; four sons, Robert E. Berry Sr. and his wife Joyce of Decaturville, Tenn., Donald E. Berry and his wife June of East Sebago, John P. Berry and his wife Beverly of East Waterboro, George R. Berry Jr. and his wife Lynda of Westbrook, and Joshua Johnson of Gorham; four daughters, Barbara Wright and her husband Robert Lane of Whitefield; Brenda Bailey of Wiscasset; Elsie Stinson of Woolwich, and Deborah Thomas and her husband David of Freeport; a sister, Beverly Charrier; four brothers, Roland Blake, Gordon Blake, Roger Blake and James Blake; 15 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and one great-great- grandson. Visiting hours will be held from 4-7 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2007, at the Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Road, Windham. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday at the chapel. Interment in Hillside Cemetery will be in the spring.
