Obituary of Gene-Arthur Brotherton


Gene Arthur Brotherton, 62, of St. Augustine, and formerly of Morgantown, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday July 9, 2002, at his home. He was born in Maidsville, a son of the late Ambrose and Bessie King Brotherton.Gene was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and was self-employed. He was a member of the North Beach Baptist Mission in St. Augustine, the Elks Lodge and was a loving and devoted husband and father.He is survived by his wife Lola Wrightsman Brotherton, a son Gene A. Brotherton, Jr., Port Orange; two brothers, Earl (Evelyn) Brotherton, Morgantown, Glen "Mick" (Lois) Brotherton, Mystic, Conn.; three sisters, Edna "Dutch" Holbert, Maidsville, Dorothy "Asalee" Black, Morgantown and Betty Scotnicki, Ft. Myers, and a half sister, Mary Warren, Wallingford, Conn., and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by two brothers, Otha and Claude Brotherton.Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, August 10, 2002 at North Shores Improvement Association Bld. Rev. Carson Whithead, officiating.The family requests that donations be made in memory of Gene Brotherton Sr., and in honor of Gene Brotherton, Jr., to the Daytona Beach Baptist Church, Bible College Scholarship Fund, 1851 Clyde Morris Blvd., Daytona Beach, Fla. 32114.
