Fred L. St. Onge Fred L. St. Onge ROCKLAND Fred L. St. Onge, 79, a lifelong Rockland resident, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at South Shore Hospital. He was born, raised and educated in Rockland and graduated from Rockland High School in 1950. Fred was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, having served aboard the USS Wren. He was a member and past commander of the Abington Post VFW and served on many boards and committees there. He had presently been serving as the rental agent and a member of the color guard. A former employee of the Avon Sole Co. and Randys Manufacturing in Randolph, Fred was a longtime maintenance supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service at the Abington Post Office until his retirement in 1992. He enjoyed collecting stamps and coins and using the internet to keep in touch with the activities of his shipmates on the USS Wren. He is survived by his wife, Jean E. (Showstead) St. Onge; and his children, Theresa M. St. Onge of Hingham and Michael A. St. Onge of New Hampshire. He was the grandfather of Angela M. Quinn of Hingham; the brother of John St. Onge of Raynham; and is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held from the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home, 135 Union St., Rockland, Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at 8:15 a.m. A funeral Mass will follow in Holy Family Church at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery in Abington.
