Frank D. Flanagan 1954-2011 WILMINGTON Frank D. Flanagan, 56, a resident of Ray Hill Road in Wilmington passed away suddenly Wednesday February 2, 2011, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington. Frank was born in Manchester, Connecticut, on May 4, 1954, the son of John F. and the late Doris (Mann) Flanagan. He received his education in Connecticut, graduating from Tolland High School, then moved to Wilmington, Vermont, in 1973. Frank worked as a building contractor for many years and co-owned and operated Winterwood Builders in Wilmington, Vt., since 1983. Frank will be remembered by many for his multitude of creative endeavors, his generous manner, and kind spirit. Passionate about fly fishing, he was a perfectionist at his craft of making trophy flies and bamboo rods. A master craftsman, Frank could build anything; most recently he even built his own fiberglass boat. Frank was deeply loved by his wife, Jane, family, friends and business associates. He truly valued the special times he spent with those who surrounded him. Frank is survived by his wife, the former Jane Ishkanian, whom he married in Wilmington on May 17, 1984, his father John F. Flanagan of Willington, Conn., his sister Patricia Potter and her husband Jonathan of Spencer, Mass., his brother-in-law Robert Ishkanian and his wife Dale of Troy, N.Y., his nieces Kimberly Smith and her husband Jeffrey of Sturbridge, Mass., Ericka Ishkanian of New York City and Jessica Ishkanian of Troy, N.Y. FUNERAL NOTICE: A celebration of the life of Frank D. Flanagan will be held Thursday morning February 10, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Wilmington, followed by a reception at The Old Red Mill.
