Funeral service for Fannie Mae Wallace Smith, 78, of Saks, will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at Gray Brown-Service with the Rev. Winfred Logan and the Rev. Andy Fennell officiating. Burial will follow at Forestlawn Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Smith passed away Saturday morning after a long illness. Survivors include her sons, David Smith & wife, Paula, of Michigan, Dannie Smith & wife, Carla, of Oxford and Tommy Smith and Donna, of Alexandria; grandchildren, David Ray Smith Jr., Marilyn Smith, Leah Faris & husband, John, Mark Smith, Lauren Smith, Michael Smith, Teresa Greenwood & husband, Jesse, and Katie Terrell & husband, Brett; 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her husband, Acie R. Smith; parents, Roscoe and Daisy Wallace and sister, Alice Clark Pallbearers will be sons and grandsons. Mrs. Smith was a native of Blount County and lived in Anniston most of her life. She worked 13 years at the Anniston Army Depot and was a member of Springdale Baptist Church. Mrs. Smith was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend; she will be missed by all who knew her. The family would like to extend special thanks to all the staff of Gentiva Hospice and to Sue Dark.
