Obituary of Esther Smith


Smith, Esther Jeanette TROY Esther Hilton Korman Smith, 100, died Thursday, September 6, 2012, at The Springs Nursing Home in Troy. She was born in Schenectady, the daughter of the late Albert and Anna Kennedy Hilton. She had resided in Albany for 40 years and then moved to Daytona Beach, Fla., for 23 years, returning to Albany in 2004. She was a graduate of Milne High School, Albany. Esther retired from NYS Dept. of Transportation after 30 years of service. She was a member of the Whitehall Rd. Bridge Club, and Esther was a life member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Albany. She is survived by her husband, Earle C. Smith; daughters, Kristin Ann O'Neil, Troy, and Elizabeth K. Warner, Geneva. She is also survived by four grandsons, Hugh, Paul, Kurt, and Lew Willig; and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, Richard Hugo Korman; a son, Richard H. Korman; brother, Albert Hilton; sisters, Elizabeth Cohen, Edith Hacker, and Lorraine Honroth. Funeral service will be Tuesday, September. 11, 2012, 10 a.m. at the Tebbutt and Frederick Memorial Home, 633 Central Ave, Albany. Relatives and friends are also invited to call Tuesday, from 9 until 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Matthews Lutheran Cemetery, Glenmont. Those who wish are invited to send donations to St. Matthews Lutheran Church, 75 Whitehall Road, Albany, NY 12209.
