In Loving Memory STUART, Elizabeth (Lib) (nee Wood) 94 years Entered into rest on Friday, March 30th, 2007 at Extendicare-Falconbridge, Sudbury. Dearly beloved wife of Ronald Alexander (Ron) Stuart predeceased 1999. Survived by dear daughter Penelope (Penny) Stuart of Cambridge and dear son, David K. Stuart and his beloved wife June of Cambridge. Loving grandmother of Jennifer and Jeffrey Stuart. Dear sister of Annie Dickson, Margaret Wood, William Y., Robert A., and John Wood all predeceased. Betty was born in Pakenham, Ontario in 1913. She attended the local schools and Teachers College in Ottawa. She taught school in eastern Ontario for ten years and during World War II worked in the Department of Finance in Ottawa. Upon Ron's return from overseas, he and Betty were married in Ottawa on September 4th, 1946. They settled in Sudbury where she taught for the Sudbury Public School Board (Prince Charles Public School) for 20 years, until retirement in 1978. Betty was a member of St. Andrew's United Church, the Superannuated Teachers of Ontario and past president of the Retarded Children's Association. Ron and she spent many happy times at their camp on Trout Lake. They spent seventeen winters at Maple Leaf Estates, Pt. Charlotte, Florida, where they golfed and used the amenities of the park, making many friends and good memories. Her years at the Walford Senior residence in Sudbury were very rewarding. Betty had a warm personality, made many friends and dearly enjoyed being with them and her beloved family. Betty had a real passion for conversation. Cremation at the Park Lawn Crematorium. Private graveside committal prayers will take place at the Park Lawn Cemetery. Funeral visitation at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral, 233 Larch St., Sudbury on Friday, May 25th, 2007 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Donations to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation, VON or Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
