MORRIS Elizabeth "Betty" Morris, age 82, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2011 in Trumbull. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Matthew Morris. Betty was born in Bridgeport, a daughter of the late Ignatz and Frances Horvath, she graduated from Bassick High School in 1945 and attended the University of Bridgeport. Betty was a legal secretary to U.S. District Court Chief Judge T. F. Gilroy Daly. She moved to Fairfield in 1955 and became an active member of the community. She served as chairman and vice chairman of the Fairfield Board of Education from 1975 to 1977. She also was an active member of the Fairfield Democratic Town Committee, serving briefly as it's chairman. She was honored with the Eunice Postol Community Service Award for her undying dedication to community service in 2001. She also received the Connecticut Democratic Women's Leadership Award in 2007. Betty was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church and a former president of the Women's Guild. Betty enjoyed volunteering, gardening, cooking and socializing with her family and friends. She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Flynn and her husband, Walter of Fairfield; son, Matthew Morris and wife, Kim of San Diego; grandchildren, Meghan Seekamp and her husband, Karl of Navarre, Fla., Erin Flynn of Fairfield, Caitlin Flynn of Stamford and Matthew Morris of San Diego; and great-grandchildren, Luke, and Kerry Seekamp. We would like to thank the Middlebrook Farms at Trumbull community for all their warmth and kindness in Mom's last year. Also her dear friend to the end, Jeanette McConachie. Funeral services will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. meeting directly in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Road, Fairfield with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be private.
