RICHARD, ELIE JOSEPH - passed away surrounded by his loving family on November 3rd, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital at the age of 85. Born in Acadiaville N.B. on April 6th, 1922. He was the son of the late Joseph Richard and Edmee (Johnson). Survived by his wife, Rita (Belliveau) Richard; three sons, Leo (Joanne) Richard of Halifax, NS, John (Theresa) Richard of Saint John and Donald (Debra) Richard of Rothesay; two daughters, Jeannette of Saint John and Helen (Richard) McKinnon of Quispamsis; twelve grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; two brothers, Cyrille (Rina) Richard, Claude (Marie) Richard both of Gardiner Mass.; five sisters, Eveline Doiron of Moncton NB., Theresa Arsenault of St. Stephen, Elodi Bertin of Ontario, Marie (Merel) Lanteigne of Acadieville, NB and Irene McPhail of Westbrook Maine; sister in-law, Albertine Richard; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by two brothers, Hector and George; brother's in-law, Raymond Bertin and Sylvian Arsenault and sister in-law, Marie Richard. Elie joined the North Shore Regiment during the Second World War and served in Canada and the United Kingdom. He was employed as an attendant for 30 years at the Provincial Hospital and retired in 1980. Elie belonged to Legion Branch #69. Funeral arrangements are under the professional care of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John NB. (646-2424). Visitations will be held on Monday and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Tribute to a Veteran will be held on Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Joachim's Church on Loch Lomond Road on Wednesday November 7th, 2007 at 11 am. Interment will follow at St. Josephs Cemetery. Memorial donations maybe made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the donation of the donor's choice.
