Obituary of Eileen Davis


DAVIS, Eileen Lenore (nee Macartney) Peacefully at St. Pat's Nursing Home on Saturday, September 11, 2004 in her 85th year. Daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. H.S. Macartney, Castor, Alberta. Predeceased by her husband George F.S. Davis and survived by her son Dr. Glen Davis (Sharon), Australia, her daughter Janice, Ottawa and grandchildren Ben and Scott, Australia. After graduating with her B.Ed. from U of Alberta, Eileen taught in Edmonton, Montreal, Indianapolis and Ottawa (Bell High School, Featherstone P.S.). Eileen was an accomplished athlete, pianist, artist and bridge player. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Castor Alberta Eastern Star and U. of A. Women's Club and Engineers Wives. Eileen and George traveled extensively and were avid golfers at the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club. In later years they lived in High River, only to return to Ottawa to be closer to family. A special thank you to the incredible staff and nurses, 1st floor St. Pat's, including Pastoral Team. According to Eileen's wishes, there will be no visitation. A life celebration where friends and family can drop in will be held at the Churchill Seniors Recreation Centre, 345 Richmond Road between 6 - 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 16th.
