Rogers, Edna Yadven KamletJune 25, 2011Edna Yadven Kamlet Rogers, 96, of Sarasota died June 25, 2011.Though she was best known for her charitable work, the Brooklyn born Mrs. Rogers began her career life as a promising sculptor, exhibiting frequently, and joining New York's prestigious Clay Club, as well as receiving first prize in a showing sponsored by the National Association Of Women Artists.It was During her tenure at the Clay Club, that Mrs. Rogers would extend an invitation for membership to her friend and fellow sculptor Louise Nevelson. The invitation would secure exposure for Ms. Nevelson and place her on track for international renown.Mrs. Rogers spent a significant portion of her life assisting her first husband Dr. Jonas Kamlet in his chemistry business. Following a tragic air accident that claimed his life, Mrs. Rogers, gradually withdrew from the art world and began to focus on work in the philanthropies, most notably involving herself in the Jewish Guild For The Blind. Mrs. Rogers married Emil Rogers in 1968, and subsequent to his death resettled in Sarasota Florida in the late nineteen eighties becoming a noteworthy patron of the Sarasota opera. She is survived by her brother, Arthur Yadven.A charity known as the Jonas Kamlet Memorial Endowment fund Of The Jewish Community Foundation Of The Sarasota-Manatee Jewish Federation, 580 McIntosh Road, Sarasota, Florida 34232has been established at her behest.
