Obituary of Douglas-Shane Carter


Douglas Shane Carter, age 49, of Marshallville, Ga., passed away Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007, at his home after a battle with brain cancer. A memorial service was held in his honor on Saturday, Oct. 27, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Watson-Mathews Funeral Home in Montezuma, Ga. Mr. Carter was born on Nov. 26, 1957, in Salt Lake City to Keith Carter and the late Carol Andrasen Carter. Mr. Carter spent 32 years as an aircraft mechanic and inspector for the federal government and as an avid auto mechanic. He also restored old cars. He was a member of the VFW and the Boy Scouts of America. He was co-founder of the Southern States Ghost Research Society. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. He was an incredible father and husband. He will be greatly missed. Survivors include his loving wife, Oneta Miller Carter of Marshallville; two daughters, Cassy A. Carter of Niceville, Fla., and Can-dace M. Isom of Marshallville; two sons and daughter-in-law, Christopher A. and Tricia Carter of Niceville, and Hunter J. Miller of Marshallville; and a grandchild, Bailey Lynn Carter of Niceville. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Marshallville First Baptist Church. Watson-Mathews Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
